transitioning

I’ve been observing Nyomi and she seems so ready for school. I am thinking of putting my business development plans on hold for a while and going back into the workforce. I could put her in preschool and meanwhile gain some more work experience in my field while developing business plans — it might be better this way.

I dunno.

So much to think about. I called around to some preschools this morning. So far Iike the Capitol School b/c of their focus on the multiple intelligences theory…and I also like Calvary’s Little Friends b/c of their Christian curriculum.

I may kiss the idea of homeschooling goodbye…but I’m not quite ready to completely give up on that idea either. I just first need to get our family priorities straight so I can know what to do. God knows we could use the extra money. It’s pretty tough on one income, though we’re a testimony that it can be done. Try sharing a vehicle with your spouse (or a friend even) and see how comfortable that feels after about a week. Then try that for three years.
Living on one income is definitely not an easy feat. Not that I mind, though. LIfe is simple this way. We just do what we need to do and that’s it.
But I’m a bit timid about taking out any more loans — including a business loan. Plus I”m not quite sure I’m ready for the responsibilities of a grant. So my next best bet is to secure a job in my field, get some experience, save back some money for business expenditures later on…

Cuz I’m sure the moment I start working a new job I’ll probably find myself “with child” again. Life is so funny.
And then I”ll be back to square one. Stay home or work — which is easier? Which is cheaper? Which is better?

Decisions, decisions.

Catching Up

November 02, 2006 By: deeva58 Category: Christian Faith, My Internet Business No Comments →

Boy has this been a long week.  It’s flown by without my having posted.

I’ve been working on some online parenting classes and video footage for a web client and that’s kept me pretty busy.
Check it out: http://www.familyimpact.net/pressrelease.htm.

Meanwhile…still enjoying the Ipod!  :-)  I’ve been watching Joyce Meyer on it and catching some news footage from ABC and CBS.  Pretty cool.

Nyomi made a trade off and decided on a few more weeks of ballet and then ending her ballet journey for a little while in exchange for membership at the Childrens Hands-on Museum.  Plus, she started at Awanas last week at a local church and she’s enjoying being a “Cubby”, so she’s pretty busy with that…and need I mention that ballet is expensive??

Finally made out a new batch of business cards and tomorrow my goal is to design some brochures to send out in my first mass mailing.  I’ve never actually done mail marketing before (only email and internet marketing) so this is a bit of a new venture for me.  We’ll see what the results are.
I stopped by the business development center on the university campus this week to speak to my counselor about helping me with marketing research, but she wasn’t in.  Maybe I’ll catch her next week.
Once I’ve done my research I can continue writing my business plan, which to this point has been going EXTREMELY slow.
I’ve been procastinating since the day I started my first business (natural skin care and soaps) back in 2002.  I’ve always known I needed to have this plan developed but just never got around to it.  Maybe it was fear of having to decide on something final and sticking with it…I don’t know.
But I think I’m ready to tackle this thing now.

As for my prayer life…I need to snatch a few moments now while I can.  Everyone is in bed except me and this should be my time to spend with the Lord…so off I go.
