Christmas ‘06

December 26, 2006 By: deeva58 Category: Christian Faith, My Daughter Nyomi, My Internet Business No Comments →

This month has been a whirlwind of adventure.
We left for New Orleans last month and returned about a week ago.  That was an adventure in itself.  I’ll have to devote a whole journal entry just to the New Orleans trip.

Then, of course, we were busy getting ready for Christmas, busy with the church, and making preparations for next year’s family changes.
Currently I’m praying about what the Lord would have me do about my current business goals versus a  job (p/t or f/t).  With a part time position I’d be making just enough money to put Nyomi in school…which helps, but really puts me back at square one.  May as well go back full time or take Faith Media up a  notch (which, again, requires an advertising budget which I don’t currently have).  We’ll see what the Lord has in store.  I’m determined not to worry about it.  Jesus will work it out.

Christmas was awesome.  Nothing replaces family and I am so blessed.  The presents were nice, Christmas tree, and all that.  But the best part of all was dinner with family.  My parents must be the proudest grandparents in the world (as is every grandparent). You know how they like to spoil the grandkids.    Nyomi got her first bike with training wheels from grandma and grandaddy.

One of her favorite gifts (from her daddy) is a Baby Alive, which is way too commercialized but kids love it.
I didn’t realize how expensive it was to keep this doll happy.  She has to have special doll food and diapers which I’ve only been able to order through Ebay or Hasbro — expensive too. I thought about substituting the special doll food with real baby food, but the manufacturer strictly warns against it…(maybe so they can make an extra buck?) The doll is too funny– it burps, asks to be fed and changed, and goes to sleep.  Maybe this will get Nyomi in practice for a little sister or brother– it keeps her busy.

Another gift that kept her busy yesterday was her kids digital camera by Fisherprice.  I didn’t know they made digital cameras for really young  kids (even mp3 players).  The doll pic above is one she took yesterday at our big family dinner at my mom’s.

And of course, we can’t forget her Kenya doll (per her request at the moment)…

At any rate, I’m so glad that Christmas is not about toys or exchanging gifts.
It’s about Jesus, about family, about love, about friendship.

And by the way, Cynthia, thank you for your friendship and for thinking of me this Christmas.

I’ll post about New Orleans soon…
