Have you been wondering how to create content for your very own audience effectively? It can be overwhelmingly confusing when you start thinking about the end result first (like which social platforms to share to.)

I aim to help you reach past those roadblocks on this post as I help you to navigate what it really means to create content for your very own audience. Before you concern yourself with all the details of content marketing, let’s lay some groundwork with why and what you should share.

Create content by being aware of your audience.

When I first began my homeschool blog in 2012, I knew that I wanted to serve the homeschool mom of faith with my content. My content was a message that was more ministry-oriented because of its faith message, so I knew that my audience was Christian women who wanted spiritual information on raising their kids while homeschooling.

Since that point, I’ve developed several blogs with different niches. Another one of my blogs was addressing motherhood and health, and a separate blog was for highlighting mompreneurs. My most recent blogs are about learning how to start a blog, and this one- helping female solopreneurs begin an online business through content creation and digital products.

I say all this to share that it’s super important to be aware of your audience as you begin creating content, since each piece of content you put out should be devoured by your audience who loves what you offer. Be aware of them by knowing their needs and pain points and how you can help solve their problems.

Take inventory of what you bring to the table.

I knew when I started my homeschool blog, that I would be bringing encouragement. In the beginning, I didn’t have any coaching services or products to sell, but with time I knew that I would develop these products. Initially, I began with what I had: encouraging and insightful blog posts and YouTube videos.

I had to take inventory of who it was that I was serving and how I could best be of help to them. I knew that I wanted to be of value to them, and so I desperately needed to make sure that I wasn’t mixing up my audiences too much.

While there was some overlap between my motherhood blog and homeschool blog, and even my mompreneur blog, they were essentially separate audiences and I tried to keep them that way.

So, really think about your online brand and what it is you bring to the table.

Make a schedule to create content.

Once you have a blog designed your next step is to grow your blog by working it.

This post for solopreneurs is all about how you can begin to create content that is valuable and impactful for audience.

What do I mean by “working it”?

I just mean that when you “work your website”, you are putting time and energy into growing it by creating new content weekly, scheduling posts, connecting with your audience, collaborating with others in your niche, and eventually selling your products and services.

Growing a website that becomes a business requires creating content. It’s important to talk to your audience, show up for them, and put in time and commitment. Make sure you’re creating content on a regular basis- weekly, for example. This means you’ll want to create content that flows well with your audience and with your own lifestyle goals. (No need for online business overwhelm, right?)

Don’t be afraid to share your content.

So, are you ready to receive the kind of visibility that’s coming your way? Well, get ready because as you begin to create content, the next step is to share it.

You’ll want to share with family and friends (if it’s their thing, of course), but mostly to social media outlets and your mailing list (which is your subscribers who have asked for your information). When you create content, you will want to keep the end result in mind: the reader, the viewer, or the listener. So, being fully aware of your audience absolutely helps you to be a better content creator.

Spread the love-share!
